During the week, my youngest daughter gave me a wonderful self-made lantern as a present.
As it sat on our mantle, I suddenly had an idea. The lantern could be used as a basket structure for a small ikebana arrangement.
My daughter and I set about choosing material for her arrangement, as well as something that would fit inside the paper lantern to hold water. After much trial and error, we found a small glass bottle. She filled the glass bottle with water and placed it inside the paper lantern.
Using some Viburnum leftover from class, she placed small branches between the cutouts in the paper lantern. To ensure asymmetry, she also added a small amount of Viburnum to one side of the lantern while creating mass and line on the other.
